Description
Bone-Specific Alkaline Phosphatase
Item# LC513002
Bone loss often occurs as a result of an imbalance between bone re-absorption (disappearance) and bone formation. Osteoporosis, a chronic and slowly developing condition, is characterized by a reduction of bone mass and integrity making people more susceptible to fractures. Osteoporosis generally occurs with increasing age and in post-menopausal women.
Bone-specific alkaline phosphatase (bone ALP) is a useful marker of active bone formation.
