Description
Carnitine, Free and Total
Item# LC706500
The primary functions of carnitine in the body is to help use stored fat as fuel and to help regulate fat burning. Carnitine is mostly found in red meat; although, the body can synthesize small amounts with the aid of a few nutrients: lysine, methionine, niacin, B6, and vitamin C. L-Carnitine is responsible for transporting fat to the powerhouse of our cells called mitochondria, and research has shown that supplementation can increase the amount of fat you burn during both strength training and cardiovascular workouts. Unless fat makes it to the mitochondria, it cannot be burned, no matter how much you exercise or diet! Carnitine works best with a diet low in carbohydrates and adequate amounts of protein, omega 3 fatty acids, and CoQ10.
